Recent Events: A WIN/FAIL Summary

WIN: I was Invited to talk at You Shot the Sheriff in Brazil!

FAIL: My Visa did not get processed in time, so I could not go.

FAIL: My talk at DefCon was rejected.

WIN: The rejection letter was one of the nicest, and completely personalized to me. Above and beyond what would have been good enough. So now, I get to go, relax, talk to people, and watch talks.

WIN: The OSCP Wikipedia entry is linking to a blog post of mine.

FAIL: I don’t think I am going to have time to prep for the OSCE certification until after Black Hat/Defcon.

WIN: Primary reason I don’t have time to study for it has me in AWE!

FAIL: This same reason has been causing seizures and nightmares. Thanks Ryujin :-p!

WIN: I guess I am the June Certified Computer Examiner of the month, thanks to a very kind person nominating me.

WIN: Backtrack 4’s forensics changes that have been made is getting good feedback.

WIN: Just got a killer price on a pretty decently configed laptop to run multiple VMs on.

FAIL: My mininote’s motherboard died out on me and needs to be replaced.

WIN: Warranty expires next month!

FAIL: Had cable TV installed after something like 6 years without it.

WIN: Primary reason was not the cable, but the fact I now have a 20Mbit home inet connection.

FAIL: Man, its hot out…
